Take a Test Service

Important Information

Our practice is taking part in a national programme to help track viruses in the community. These viruses include flu, COVID-19, RSV, and other germs that cause coughs, colds, and fever.

By taking part, you help the NHS learn which viruses are around, how they are spreading, and how to keep people safe. This pathway is available for adults and children.

Who can join in?

If you have symptoms of a cough, sore throat, fever, or flu-like illness, you can take part.

It is your choice. Joining in will not change the care you get from us.

What to do?

Order a test kit Go to takeatestuk.com and enter our voucher code: XXXXX
Get your kit Your kit should arrive in about two days.
Do the swab Follow the steps in the kit. The swab must reach the lab within 7 days of your symptoms starting. A video guide is here: takeatestuk.com/phe-home
Post it back Use the pre-paid envelope in the kit.
Get your results Your results will be sent to you by text message from the ‘Take a Test’ team.

About the results

Your test might show:

· A virus was found and which one?

· No virus was found

· The result is unclear

These results are for information only. They help scientists understand what viruses are going around. They are not used to decide your treatment.

If you are worried about your symptoms, please contact us or call NHS 111 if the practice is closed and your symptoms can not wait until we are open.
