Why has there been a short notice period and what is the reason for the partners resigning?

The partners notified the NHS North Central London Integrated Care Board (NCL ICB) in November 2022 that they wished to resign from their contract. The reason for this is confidential at this time. This does not mean that they are all resigning as GPs, and Drs Fardon, Thakore, and Yuen are continuing to work as GPs for the practice.

Who is the new provider (caretaker)?

The new provider is named Islington GP Federation, who already provide services in the local area.

Is Islington GP Federation a private company?

Islington GP Federation is an organisation set up by most Islington GPs to provide support and resilience to General Practice in Islington. No profits are paid out to its members and any financial surplus is put back directly into healthcare in Islington.

Is it a short-term contract with Islington GP Federation? How long would this contract last?

Yes, it is a temporary contract for up to 12 months. The immediate priority has been to ensure service can continue in a new site. The ICB will write to all patients in the New Year regarding longer-term arrangements for the practice.

What happens when contract ends with Islington GP Federation?

The NHS North Central London Integrated Care Board has to make a decision regarding the future of the practice before the contract ends with Islington GP Federation.

What are the current arrangements for the practice?

All services previously offered by the practice will continue under the new arrangements and you will not see an immediate change in the way the practice operates. The majority of the clinical team have relocated to The Village Practice. You will still be able to contact the practice on the same telephone number, same email address, and/or receive details via the practice website.

Why was there no patient consultation?

The ICB will write to patients and an engagement will be carried out in the New Year.
